Race Day

Travelling by Train - The nearest train station is Saunderton just a few miles from Bledlow Ridge. Either pre-book a taxi or even run it as a warm up if you are really keen! Both High Wycombe and Princes Risborough are also a short taxi ride away.

Travelling by Car - Race HQ is 10 min walk from the free car park. It is approximately a 15 minute drive from Junctions 4 or 5 of the M40.

Car Parking (car park opens at 0800) - Car parking is available from 8am on Sunday 19th May, and is free of charge. It is approximately 10 minutes walk from the car park to the race start, will be clearly signposted and marshalled.
Car park address: Chinnor Road, Bledlow Ridge. Field located between Chapel Lane and The Boot Pub.
Postcode: HP14 4AW
Visual: Opposite the yellow house called Old Forge
What3words: ///clashes.universal.ditched
Please do not park your car anywhere except the official car park. Bledlow Ridge is a small village and there is no on-road parking available for competitors. Please park sensibly and ensure you lock your car as we can take no responsibility for any loss or damage to your car or belongings. Upon completion of the race, competitors and supporters, returning to their cars, are advised that other runners will be still finishing the race and you are requested to return to the car park along the grass verge to the left of the road. This will be signposted and marshalled. Thank you for your cooperation around this matter.

Registration - Race numbers are not being sent out prior to the race. Please allow sufficient time to collect your race number from race HQ (Bledlow Ridge School) on the morning of the race.
Please ensure you complete your name, emergency number and any allergies or relevant medical conditions on the reverse of the race number.

Timings

Please ensure that you are at the school field by 9.20am latest for the Half Marathon, and 10.20 latest for the 10k to listen to the mandatory safety briefing.

In the event of adverse weather conditions that force us to cancel the race, an email will be sent to your registered email address and information posted on the website / Facebook and Twitter pages as soon as possible.  A Go / No Go decision in the event of adverse weather conditions will be taken by 7.00 on the day of the race.

Kit Storage - There is a bag drop at the school. Please note that there are no changing or shower facilities at race HQ.  The facilities will not be locked so please do not store valuables.

Refreshments - There will be various hot and cold food and drinks for sale at Race HQ.

Toilets - Please note that there are limited toilet facilities at Race HQ. Please do not use the school playing fields!

Dogs - Please note that dogs are not allowed on the school grounds.

Walking the Course - We have no objection to you walking the 10k course if you choose, but to be fair to our marshals, we will let them depart the course no later than 12.45am, and signs marking the course will be removed at the same time.  If you are still running / walking after this time, the Last Runner will advise you that you are no longer deemed to be participating in the event and we will not be able to provide you with marshals and facilities beyond that point.  If you expect to take longer than 1 hour 45 minutes to complete the course, please ensure you have a map of the course with you.  We suggest that you do not walk the Half Marathon course - if you are unable to continue the race, please make yourself known to the marshals and they will arrange for you to get back to the school.

Water Stations - Please note that there will be four water stations along the half Marathon route (approx every 5km), and one on the 10k route. The Half Marathon route links up to the 10k route on the return to school; the last water station will be shared.  Further free water for competitors will be provided at the finish.

First Aid and Marshalling - In the event of you requiring first aid at any point during the event, please notify a marshal who will contact our first aid people. The marshals along the course are there for your safety and the safety of your fellow competitors and road users. Please make sure you listen to any instructions they give you and pay attention to any race signage.

The course - Please be aware that both the Half and the 10k routes include a number of unavoidable narrow sections through kissing gates and narrow paths and over uneven ground. This may cause some short delays whilst passing these natural obstacles but these have been kept to an absolute minimum for the enjoyment of the runners.

Categories - Runners will be placed in the following categories:

Photographs - We will have a volunteer photographer on the course so look out for them and smile when you go past! Access to race photographs will be shared here after the event. If you use a photo publicly after the event please credit our photographer (David Howlett).

Race Discipline -The race referee’s decision is final and binding throughout the race. Runners must keep to the left at all times unless instructed by a marshal. Any runners ignoring or failing to comply with marshal instructions and endangering other runners will face disqualification from the race.

Race sponsors - We could not run the Ridge off Roader without our kind sponsors and the efforts of many volunteers.  Some of our sponsors will be at the race as marshals, runners and organising the water table.  Please give them a smile as you run through!
