WE NEED YOU! Please volunteer to be a marshal for the 2024 Ridge Off Roader!
Much of the success of the Ridge Off Roader is dependent on our team of marshals. In 2024 we will need more marshals than ever.
As a marshal, your responsibilities will be simple, clear and hopefully fun. Cheer on the runners as they go through the joy and pain of a muddy 10k/Half Marathon!
If any group you are involved with (Duke of Edinburgh etc) would like to help us and run a Water Station or similar - please do get in touch or email us at runtheridgeoffroader@gmail.com. The race will not be able to go ahead without sufficient support on the day. Your role will be key.
All information will be given to you prior to the event by the head marshal and your section leader. Your responsibilities are:
- To be on your post at the appointed time and to remain there until released by the sweeper marshal
- To direct runners at junctions and warn of local hazards: mud, gates etc
- To encourage all participants with boundless enthusiasm as they pass you - cheer them on - it will make their day!!
- To inform us at HQ of any injury or mishap via local communications
Pre-Race Meeting
There will be a pre-race meeting in the week before the event, where you will be given individual instructions for all the above points, and any necessary equipment such as hi-viz vests will be provided.
After the Race
We recognise the 19th of May 2024 may be a little chilly - so for your pains, when released from your marshalling post, we are hoping you will come and warm up and share a complimentary lovely hot cup of tea/coffee with all of us, other marshals, family, friends and participants at the race HQ.
Please make sure you return your high visibility jacket to the HQ/School as sometimes we borrow these and we definitely reuse them year to year!
